Lewis Temple brings over 25 years of leadership experience in international development, with a career spanning Eastern Europe, South and Central Asia, and Africa, where he has lived and worked extensively. Throughout his career, he has led programs and organizations addressing diverse impact areas, including smallholder farming, ageing, child protection, health, education, and artisanal mining. A key focus of his work in recent years has been driving market-based and private sector solutions to tackle complex development challenges, fostering sustainable and scalable impact.
From 2014 to 2023, Lewis served as CEO of BRAC UK, the European arm of the globally renowned Bangladeshi development organization BRAC, a key Nirapon partner. Under his leadership, BRAC UK significantly expanded its influence and impact. Lewis focused on fostering innovative funding partnerships, building strategic collaborations, and enhancing BRAC’s profile among European donors and policymakers. He also pioneered a new approach to advocacy and policy engagement in Europe, enabling BRAC to amplify its global mission
Following his tenure at BRAC UK, Lewis became CEO of The Impact Facility (TIF), an international social enterprise dedicated to empowering mineral-rich communities to build sustainable economies catalyzed by—rather than dependent on—mining. During his time at TIF, he supported the growth of transformative initiatives such as the Fair Cobalt Alliance, a multi-stakeholder initiative uniting companies like Tesla, Google, Glencore, and Fairphone. The Alliance works to improve the health, safety, well-being, and economic opportunities for artisanal cobalt miners in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
